| "I really like TLC's song, it gives a good message to all the girls, teens, and women that who you are is who you are, and that you should love yourself and not change yourself for some guys. If he's not willing to except you, then he's a loser, and all guys should know this."

| "I love the video. Maybe it's
because I identify with both of the girls in the video from different times in my life, but I think it's because I think it's so unfair that
everyone is judged by how they look. When the best compliment someone can give you is that you look great, we have to realize how
superficial we are being. "Unpretty" made me realize how much I was judging myself (and others) without even thinking about it.
The only thing I didn't like about the video was that it put all the blame on guys when the problem with self esteem is also the fault of girls
being bitchy, jealous, and cruel to eachother about how they look, dress, and act. It's something that everyone should stop being
shallow about, not just guys. But other than that, this video was the best I have seen in a long time; it actually had a plot and
really meant something to me. thanx for hearing my opinion!

I think the clip is good. It shows that u shouldn't have to change your body or yourself to please sombody. If those people don't like u for who u r or how u look, they're not for u!

-Serge | "I read a comment where a few Christians were trying to explain that their religion seems unfair to certain people. One of them (Jenny) used Islam as an example. I found that very offensive. I'm muslim myself, and I have never been restricted in anyway. My life is pretty much like any of yours and my parents aren't terrorists. It's an unfair for anyone to think of any religion to be sexist, because God is Just, there is no injustification towards women in religion. People make it the way it is. I know Islam seems as if it may be because how women are covered and whatnot, but be careful, people who do that are extrememly conservational and they follow social and political laws from the 14th century. What the Qu'ran really says is that women AND MEN should be modestly covered. However this was overlooked because the 14th century was a male dominated society. The Qur'an doesn't have a syllable that's sexist. In the future please look up your information before you open your mouth, and never take examples of anything you don't know enough about. That may not be directed to all of you but to whom it is directed please take note."

| "I think that TLC's "Unpretty" video was made with the best intentions, but from the best intentions can come the worst results. First off, the three girls from TLC are gorgeous, stereotypical "hotties," and the only person portrayed in the video with a real problem is the overweight bulimic woman. Secondly, the whole thing tells girls that it is important to worry about your weight, your body, etc. It places too much importance in physical beauty, while the truth is, real beauty is in the mind and in the heart. Lastly, I'd like to point out that TLC didn't even write that song themselves. A better video for young ladies to watch would probably be "Beautiful Like Me" by hard-rockers Joydrop. The lead singer is a normal-looking woman, attractive in an odd way, who sings "If I was beautiful like you, I'd have so many friends, everyone would look at me .. . . but I'm not beautiful like you, no, I'm beautiful like me." "Beautiful video. I love the way they had those girls deciding not
to worry about the way people thought about their image. The sign
language was a neat thing to add in. And those bugs were so cute! I
think it sends out a really good message to gals everywhere. Hmm, and maybe guys too.

"I think TLC's video "unpretty" is great. 1st off, there's a really important message behind the song, and the girl in the video sees herself in a whole new light at the end. It's great. "

| "I love this song it helps me to realize that you won't feel beautiful until you look inside yourself. All the makeup in the world cannot cover up who you are in the inside God made us individuals why would we want to change that. The world has made a picture of who is beautiful and who is not. A lot of real pretty people I know are snobs and full of themselves only trying to get guys. When you are satisfied with yourself than it doesn't matter what people think about the way you look. " |
"I really appreciate TLC's video "Unpretty" because it's sending out the
message to women that you don't have to have large breasts or be the
prettiest, or the skinniest. And this is a message that women,
especially teenagers, need to hear right now. There's so much pressure
from the music industry, fashion industry, and other teenagers to be the
skinny perfect girl with a big chest. I really admire Chilly and the
other girls from TLC because they are not that prototype and they are
still beautiful and they are still making it big."

"I really like the video, and how they talked about bulimia, surgery AND
bullying, instead of just one. I think it would have been better if the girl who
was bullied had a female teacher or a group of friends to defend her instead of
a male though.

"I believe that women should be allowed
to go topless in public. If men are allowed
to then I think that women should too because
there is no difference between mens' nipples and
womens'. A woman's breasts are bigger than a man's
just because they need to feed their children.
And if our society doesn't accept that then what
kind of a society are we living in anyways?
Are we letting men rule over us because 53% of
the population are women anyways. So shouldn't men
be overruled by women and we should be allowed to
go topless. And I think that if society says that
we can't then forget society and do what you want
to do. They're our bodies anyways and if we
want to go topless then we will. I know I do even
if someone tells me it's wrong.

"TLC's video was a really good video, and the song as well. It has a VERY
strong message, and hopefully it will get through to lots of girls out
there. I don't have any problems with the way I look at all, but I'm not
conceited. I think that all girls are beautiful, and if anyone tells you
any different then it's their problem, not yours. Girls should KNOW that
they're beautiful, because we are. TLC has been a great group ever since
they came out back in the early 90's, and I have every CD they've ever
made, but I have to say that "Un-Pretty" is the most touching, song with
the best message. If you listen to their songs, all of them have messages,
some not as strong as others. "Un-Pretty" definitely will be a lasting
message in girl's minds, hopefully.
" -Kaleigh | "TLC's video for "Unpretty" will stick in my mind probably for the rest
of my life. The scene of the implant being removed and the fear on the
young girl's face really disturbed me. Someone I am very close to has
breast implants and it freaks me right out at the chance she's taking
with her life just to have big tits. I think breast implants should be
illegal for any other purpose than medical reconstruction. Girls as
young as 14 and 15 are having the operation. The whole idea of the
music video really touched me. The pressures men and the media put on
young women make me sick." -Simone |
