Amanda Bynes makes a colossal change from her funky teen role on Nickelodeon’s "The Amanda Show", to a 45-minute flash-animated Internet film called The Day I Saved America. In the flick, set right after the War of Independence, Bynes plays 12 year-old Harriet, who prefers sword fighting to needlepoint. Therefore, she has a hard time fitting in with her 18th century New York classmates.
Harriet wants to be just like George Washington (even though George is not president yet). So you can imagine how shocked she’d be when she accidentally witnesses some British spies kidnap him. When the British plan to put an imposture in George Washington’s place, she knows she must do something to stop them. No one (not even her own parents) believes Harriet, so she takes on a heavy-duty task: saving America!
Along with George Washington’s trusty, but not so bright horse, Vern, and the bald eagle, Cincinnati, Harriet embarks on an action-packed journey. Along the way, she embarks on some nifty adventures that change American culture forever. She saved Ricky Martin’s great-grandpa from a man-eating butterfly? Just kidding!
The star-studded cast includes Jason Priestly from 90210 as the voice of Betsy Ross, Harriet’s next-door neighbour. Sean Patrick Thomas (Cruel Intentions) plays the narrator, and Todd Louiso, from High Fidelity, plays Cincinnati, a bald eagle.
This is such an empowering girl power flick; you don’t want to miss a second of it! Check out all the action at Rumpus.com.
